Admin Nav Bar for Tab Apps

I was asked to redesign the admin navigation bar for our static tab apps (something which had, more or less, stayed the same since I joined the company).  This was a relatively simple task, but there are several states which the nav bar can be in, and I wanted to make it as easy for users to read (and use, of course) as I possible could -- especially since we'd had quite a few issues with the nav bar as it was, whether it confused, angered, or just didn't even get seen by users...  After a bit of researching nav bars to find things I liked, I ended up with what you see below.
